Inventory basics in Odoo
Setting the configuration in your database is the first step for Inventory. Some parameters to set up are:
- Product Creation and Setup
- Warehouse & Storage Locations

Storable
- Require physical count
Affect accounting (inventory valuation) - In the product Odoo Smart buttons:
- Display on hand quantity
- Reordering rules
- Example: machines and garment
Consumable
- No records for this products, not tracked
- Always available for sales
- Example: food and small assembly parts
Service
- Non material product
- For sale
- No stock
- Can be managed in Project Odoo Module
Warehouse
General place or building where the inventory is.
Created with a whole and a short name, example:
Warehouse 2 --> WH02
Location
A space inside the warehouse like a floor, room or a shelf.
There are three types:
- Physical: loading / unloading areas or a department.
- Partner: third party (customer / vendor) spaces.
- Virtual: not existing space, can represent a inventory status.
example: inventory loss.
Storage location option must be set in:
Configuration / Settings / Warehouse

Number of steps
To activate select:
Configuration / Settings / Warehouse / Multi-Step Routes checkbox
In the WH
- select how many steps for shippings (in-out)

Routes in the WH
-check routes smart button

Operation stage generated
- create sales quotation / confirm order
- "waiting for another operation stage" created

Stage changes to ready
- RFQ generated in Purchase module
- receive products
- ready stage to deliver products to customer repalaces "waiting" stage
