Corp Sales at Software Appministre
(2018-2020)

This was a great experience for learning in the Software Industry.
For the first time I took the risk to become member of my own startup.

We decided to name the firm Appministre with the purpose of doing apps for the administration of other business.
The team was formed by:

-Two junior frontend developers
-Senior backend developer
-Salesperson (me)

We had worked on two main projects
- Building an app for hotestels
- the other was a form website for the transportation industry

Even Though I decided not to continue with the firm, I learned valuable insights in the software industry.
after this experience I began studying Odoo ERP and understood the importance of "Agility" in projects.

Hostels App, guided by Ruta-N

Our first project was run with the help of Ruta-N, an alliance between the University of Antioquia and the Government of Medellin.
The startup was to begin with a startup around software projects.

One main project was to buld an app for hostels. We had several on-site meetings to create a funcional idea.

Some concepts given by their training were:
- Canvas business model
- Financial forecast
-target market
-consumer insights

Below you will find some major steps for the building of the app

Ruta N

Business idea:

It was identified that  hostels were not having control on the comissions for tour referrals.

Problems to solve

With the guidance of Ruta-N Medellin we identified the painpoints of the future users.

Expected behavior

With different interviews a flowchart was made andto think in the solution of the App. Additional insights were found.

Financial Forecast

Some reseach was done tohave a scope and a target market.

Prototype login

It was built a prototype in Java for android users.

Prototype signature

From the insights we found that signatures in the checkin was a pain point.  Then this new feature was added to the user interface.

Form website for the transportation industry

The second and most important project managed project was a website form in the transportation industry.
For a signed non-disclosure agreement with the customer, the name of the customer and major details of this project cannot be displayed.

The idea was to generate a form for companies involved directly or indirectly with transportation.
On one side there was a need to collect information form the related organizations.
But there was also a need to teach individuals on transportation security and good practices.

Transportation and security guidance

Techinical background

The project was developed with different programming languages and an MVP was achieved

Backend languages: Python / Django with MySQL connections and MongoDB (optional).
Frontend languages: HTML and CSS (integrated with Django).  A template was provided by the customer.

Project management

A traditional project with a limited time was set. That was a huge mistake for us.
VUCA is an acronym that stands for volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity

As a small company we agreed some specific targets that can be changed and misunderstood by the client.
That was the case in this project. Therefore the time set became larger and this project became financially notprofitable.

Agile learning

It is too risky to set a traditional project, which implies specific time and goals.
It is usually better (in software) to offer flexible projects with agile methodologies.
Honesty and quality are well valued.  Customers are willing to payfor more time if it's worth it.

My first approach to Odoo

Before ending the company, I became an Odoo Learning Partner and studied the basics during six months. I had to options:

a) Offering Odoo with Appministre as an Odoo Ready Partner

b) Becoming an funcional consultant employee for an existing Odoo partner.

At the end I took the second option. Below you will find how looks the first Odoo website that I built (in spanish).
